Marble Falls Antique Crawl to take place Saturday
by Alexandria Randolph
The First Annual Marble Falls Antique Crawl will take place Saturday, Sept. 20, with 22 local stores participating and few spaces left available.
An anonymous group organized the event to offer shopping experience to residents and visitors, and participants will see discounts from 10 to 50 percent off on antiques, unique art and oriental rugs. Tickets are already sold out for this inaugural event, but organizers can squeeze a few more in.
“This is the cream of Marble Falls shopping,” said Peyton Wolcott, event organizer. “Nobody has ever done anything this large before.”
Wolcott said the event will include lunch at the River City Grille, where merchants will presents topics on antiquing and repurposing antique and vintage items. Speakers will include Pat the Tin Lady from Pearl, Texas to Elements and La Ti Da’s Michele Hart, the Rug Queen, who will speak on ‘Three Things to Look for in Oriental Rugs -- and Three Things to Look Out for,’ and art dealer Marta Stafford has some great ideas for displaying collections. Donna Petty and Sarah Crawford will share some fun repurposing ideas, many incorporating ordinary household objects you might otherwise pass by.
Guests will have an opportunity to test their picking skills with Wolcott, a former design journalist, who will also offer easy home updates for fall.
Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at Chique, Unique & Antique at Seventh Street at the US 281 intersection before Thursday, Sept. 18 at 5 p.m.
