Thomas George Moore Sr., 73, of Granite Shoals, died on Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2015, at the Seton Hospital in Round Rock.
Services were held at 4 p.m. on Thursday, March 5, 2015, at the First Baptist Church in Marble Falls.
Moore was born on April 24, 1941, in Pittsfield, Massachusetts, to Joseph and Grace Daly.
He graduated from high school at Wahconah Regional High School in Dolton, Massachusetts.
He married Georgia Williamson on Aug. 12, 1968, in Burnet and they lived in Granite Shoals.
They had five boys: Thomas Jr., Patrick, Michael, Earnest and Jimmy.
Moore joined the U.S. Army at 15 years of age after giving false information so he would be accepted. He served as Military Police his entire time in the U.S. Army.
He also taught ballroom dancing, was a boxer and in, his adult life after the service, he worked at various jobs.
Moore was a lifelong member at the VFW Post 10376 located in Marble Falls.
He was also a member of the First Baptist Church in Marble Falls.
He was passionate about his grandchildren and also loved hunting, fishing and being in the outdoors.
He will be remembered for his sense of humor, as well as an avid reader, who could always be found with a book in his hand.
He was preceded in death by: his parents; a brother, Michael Moore, and a sister, Patricia Pease.
He is survived by: his wife of 47 years, Georgia Moore; five sons and two daughters-in-law, Thomas and Rebecca Moore Jr., Patrick Moore, Michael Moore, Earnest Jackson, and Jimmy and Tina Jackson; 14 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sisters, Marylou Daly and Rosemary Daly; brother, Joey, and other family members.
Arrangements are under the direction of Heart of Texas Funeral Home in Austin.
