At its meeting Tuesday, March 17, the Horseshoe Bay City Council officially formed and appointed members to two advisory committees.
“We passed two ordinances creating the committees, and two resolutions naming the members,” said Stan Farmer, HSB city manager, Thursday, March 19. The council decided to insert the word “advisory” before “committee” to indicate they are not permanent-standing committees, he explained.
Committee members will not serve set terms, but rather will serve “until their mission is accomplished,” Farmer said. Decisions made in committee are non-binding and meant to be suggestions to help guide the council.
The members of the Long Range Planning Advisory Committee are: John Bird, Bill Gaylord, Nancy Ritter, Jim Long, Sharon Jenkins, Lynette Morrison, Mike Thuss, Bud Nichols, Ted Hess, Larry Stahl, Steven Varga and Forrest Covin.
The members of the Information and Communication Advisory Committee are: Lee Peterson, Phil Schoch, Linda Baker and Jan Busse.
Potential members submitted applications to the city and were chosen by the council.
“Everyone who applied got appointed,” Farmer said. “There were not too many to appoint, so they just appointed everybody.”
Also at the meeting, a variance request made by Ace Hardware in Horseshoe Bay was denied unanimously. Store management requested a sign on the building facing south toward FM 2147. At 2x15 feet, the proposed sign exceeded the city’s width restrictions.
Farmer said the city received two letters in opposition to the sign.
