MFISD seeks community input during superintendent search
Marble Falls Independent School District officials announced an opportunity for the community to offer their input during the search for a new superintendent to replace Dr. Robert O'Connor next school year.
The survey is open until 11:45 p.m. May 21 at: https://s.zoomerang.com/s/ZTKH2HQ
The survey gives people a chance to elaborate on the top three qualities for the new superintendent, what areas of expertise the person should have, as well as top priorities or special areas the superintendent should address.
At a special meeting May 4, the MFISD Board of Trustees selected the law firm Walsh, Anderson, Gallegos, Green and Trevino, P.C., partnering with Gary Patterson, educational consultant, to lead the search for the next superintendent, according to a district statement, May 5.
The position was posted May 5 and applications will be accepted through June 10. Two rounds of interviews are scheduled, one in June and another in July. “The final candidate will be presented to the board for consideration in mid-July,” according to the statement. “Trustees are planning for the finalist to be in place for the start of the new school year.”
The search firm will host two community forums to seek input on the desired traits for the next Superintendent. The forums are scheduled for Tuesday, May 19, and Wednesday, May 20, at the Community Room at the MFISD central administrative offices at 1800 Colt Circle, Marble Falls.
MFISD staff may give input from 3:30-5 p.m. either day.
Community members and parents may give input from 6-7:30 p.m. either day.
See Friday's Highlander for more on the search.
