Tornado watch in effect

A tornado watch is in effect for Burnet, Blanco, Travis and surrounding counties as of 9:50 a.m. Wednesday, May 13.
The watch is effective until 5 p.m.
A weather advisory has also been issued for southeastern Llano and central Burnet counties. Until 11:15 a.m.
“At 10:12 a.m. central time, DOPPLER Radar was tracking a line of strong thunderstorms along a line extending from near oxford to near Sandy to near Flugrath (and) Kreutzberg... moving northeast at 40 mph,” stated a the advisory. “Wind gusts up to 50 mph will be possible with these storms.”
Locations impacted include Kingsland, Granite Shoals, Marble Falls, Burnet, Bertram, Round Mountain, Blanco, Buchanan Dam, Lago Vista, Bee Cave, Horseshoe Bay and locations further south.
“Torrential rainfall is also occurring with these storms and may lead to flash flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways,” the statement said. “Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with these storms. Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe shelter inside a building or vehicle.”
The warning stated the storms may intensify.
“Wind gusts to 50 mph in bowing segments and a few brief tornadoes are possible” the warning read.
