Jan. 26, 1946~Sept. 16, 2015

Foy Gene Petty, 69, long-time resident of Marble Falls, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 16, 2015, at home with family after a short battle with cancer.

Foy was born Jan. 26, 1946, in Stamford to Van and Nellie Dee Petty of Leuders as one of three sons.

He was no stranger to hard work from an early age as the family operated a dairy farm and he continued this work ethic throughout his adult life.

As a child, Foy loved baseball and spent hours playing in and along the creek that ran through the farm. During his high school years, he loved sports, played basketball and eventually met his lifelong sweetheart, Donna Blackstock.

Foy and Donna were married June 11, 1966, in Wylie. They spent the first part of their marriage in the Abilene area, but work would take them to different parts of the country where they began to raise a family.

In 1977, Foy and Donna settled in Marble Falls, where Foy worked for Gibson’s, Lakeland Mall, and eventually HEB, from which he retired in 2005.

One of Foy’s proudest achievements was being a part of the Marble Falls Volunteer EMS in the late 1970s.

He earned the designation of EMT Special Skills and enjoyed serving others in this capacity. While not working, which was seldom, Foy enjoyed hunting, fishing, shooting trap, wood working and spending time with family.

He is survived by: his wife of 49 years, Donna Petty, and their four children and their spouses, Jennifer and Gene Hardinge of Shreveport, Louisiana, Joy and Kenneth Jordan of Lawn, Troy and Lisa Petty of Llano and Patrick and Charlotte Petty of Marble Falls.

Foy is also survived by: 10 grandchildren, Alex Hardinge, Andy Hardinge, Aleasa Hardinge, Josh Petty, Samuel Jordan, Aaron Hardinge, Abby Jordan, Noah Petty, Hannah Jordan and Max Petty; siblings, Gilbert Petty and his wife, Ann, of Rule; sister-in-law, Carole Ann Petty of Stamford, and mother-in-law, Mae Francis Blackstock of Marble Falls.

Foy is preceded in death by his father Van Petty and mother Nellie Dee Petty, father-in-law Blackie Blackstock, and brother Harrel Petty.

Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 18, 2015, at Fellowship Baptist Church, 2702 Mormon Mill Road in Marble Falls.
