Kenneth Gene Walker was born to Creola and Adolph Walker on August 15, 1936, and died on Wednesday, Dec. 30, 2015.

His family was by his side throughout the final days of his life and rejoice in the knowledge that they were able to hold and comfort him as he peacefully departed this earth.

Ken grew up in Weslaco, Texas, and later served in the United States Air Force from 1954-1966.  He met and married his wife, Valerie, while stationed in Madrid, Spain.

This union was blessed with two children, Steve and Sara.

He later served in Thailand during the Vietnam conflict and upon leaving the service he resided in Austin, Texas, where he was a Texaco dealer for many years.

In 1979, Ken discovered Horseshoe Bay, Texas and this beautiful community on Lake LBJ became his retirement home for the remainder of his life.

Ken loved playing golf and was proud that he made four aces over the years.

Playing poker also became a passion although he never admitted to winning any money.

Ken and Valerie traveled extensively in later years and enjoyed every moment and each new experience.

He led a good, kind and honorable life and was a well-loved and loyal husband, father and Pops.  His non-assuming and gentle manner captivated those who knew him and his uplifting sense of humor warmed the hearts of those around him.

Kenny was a blessing to his family and friends and will be forever missed.

Ken is survived by: wife, Valerie; son, Steve; daughter and son-in-law, Sara and Daren Hersh; his granddaughters, Candace Walker Thompson and Lauren and Emily Hersh; brothers, Arnold Walker and Johnny Walker, and extended family and wonderful friends.

He loved each and every one.

The family will recognize and honor Ken’s memory at a date to be announced.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks for people to honor Ken's memory by completing a random act of kindness.
