An ice skating scene is just part of the intricate railroad set up at Donna and Larry Canter's New Year's Eve party.

Large crowds of celebrants had a great evening on Dec. 31, 2015, heralding the arrival of the New Year.

The biggest party was at the ballroom in the Yacht Club where guests dressed in cocktail attire and enjoyed a four-course dinner from 6-8 p.m. This was followed by dancing to The Groove Labs Band, enjoying a cocktail and visiting with friends. Later, there were enough party hats and noise makers to go around, along with champagne for everyone to welcome in the New Year at the stroke of midnight.

Also having a great time celebrating the special evening were the guests at the Y Bar at the Club who were less formally dressed than those in the ballroom and who enjoyed the music of Bahama Billy. The group in the Y Bar included many of the regulars who are there every Friday evening, although we saw quite a few new faces, too. The dance floor was full for most of the evening and celebrants also refreshed in some bubbly to ring in the New Year. The Horseshoe Bay Hotel was also full and many of the visitors took part in the special events in Horseshoe Bay.

Other events

All the Bible study classes at the Church at Horseshoe Bay enjoyed special luncheon events to celebrate the season. The “Bible Alive” class enjoyed being in the home of Larry and Donna Canter which was adorned for Christmas just about everywhere anyone looked. Beautiful decorations celebrated the birth of Christ in many ways. In addition to the decorations being spectacular, the food was also great.

Coming up!

The Hill Country Community Theatre has a great production of “Dial M For Murder” coming up with an opening on Feb. 18 and weekend shows running through March 6.

This is a classic that many of us may have enjoyed before but it is so great we will enjoy it once again.

Ex-tennis pro Tony Wendice decides to murder his wife for her money and because she had an affair the year before. He blackmails an old college associate to strangle her, but when things go wrong, he sees a way to turn events to his advantage. It is one of the best of the oldies guaranteed to entertain.

Make reservations early because we surely won't want to miss this one!
