A big second quarter by Dripping Springs proved to be the difference in Tuesday’s District 25-5A 51-48 defeat over the Marble Falls Lady Mustangs.

Dripping Springs defense and the Lady Tigers sharp passing were the difference.

Marble Falls found itself in a 29-12 hole at halftime and were unable to get any closer than 17 points down the stretch in the 58-41 district loss.

Marble Falls (12-11, 0-4) will hit the road Friday against the Georgetown Lady Eagles.

“The first half we didn’t play, we were flat,’’ Marble Falls coach David Schubert said. “We had zero intensity on defense and our offense was sloppy. Our defensive intensity picked up the second half.’’

The Dripping Springs Lady Tigers were led by senior forward Amanda O’banan, who scored 13 points on five of 10 shooting. Freshman guard Julia Graham and senior guard Taylor Yates both finished with eight points.

Marble Falls’ best weapon was sophomore post Aubree Adams with 13 points. Adams scored in every quarter, but the Mustangs ran into trouble trying to force the ball into Adams early.

Dripping Springs (15-7, 2-2) was able to cause five turnovers early and turned the game early with its steals.

Graham finished with a team-high seven steals for the Lady Tigers. Brooke Bradley also had three steals against the Lady Stangs.
