Austin teachers dies on Lake Buchanan

A kayaker who drowned in Lake Buchanan during an excursion Saturday evening, Jan. 9, has been identified by authorities as Julian Everard Dahmen, an approximately 30-year-old Austin resident and teacher.
His body was recovered at the peninsula at Rock Point on Lake Buchanan the following morning, on Sunday, Jan. 10, according to the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD.)
Dahmen was a teacher at the Austin Discovery School, which was closed Monday in support of a grieving staff.
