The District 25-5A softball race is on.
With three games left in the season, Marble Falls stands in sixth place, a game back of being tied for third place.
Four teams get in.
It looks like it is going to take eight district wins to get in the playoffs.
Marble Falls can reach eight wins by beating Cedar Park and Vandegrift on the road the then closing with a home victory over Georgetown East View.
That’s possible. The Lady Mustangs beat Vandegrift and East View in the first round. They were upset by Cedar Park in the first round, 6-0, opening the door for Cedar Park to gain some momentum.
The Lady Mustangs showed some resiliency Tuesday night with a 3-2 win over Leander to give Marble Falls a 5-6 district mark and snap a three-game losing streak.
No. 8 state-ranked Dripping Springs lost for the first time in district on Tuesday, dropping a 5-2 contest against Vista Ridge.
Dripping Springs stands 10-1 in district and has clinched at least a tie for the district title.
Georgetown is 7-4 and Leander, Cedar Park and Vista Ridge are all 6-5, a game ahead of the Lady Mustangs.
Nobody has an easy path the rest of the way.
Dripping Springs should claim the top spot, leaving five teams to battle for three spots.
Stay tuned.
