A Burnet man was indicted on manufacture and delivery charges following the death of US veteran on reported drug overdose.

Dallas Wood, 19, was indicted April 5 on charge of manufacture or delivery of a controlled substance causing death, a felony.

According to the indictment, on or about May 27, 2014, Wood did “knowingly deliver, by actual or constructive transfer, to Matthew Cain, a controlled substance, namely Methamphetamine, in an amount less than one gram.”

The indictment continues that Matthew Allen Cain, 34, expired on May 27, 2014 after using the drug.

“Matthew Cain died as a result of injecting or ingesting or inhaling into the body… an amount of the controlled substance,” the report stated.

Cain's obituary stated that he was an Austin resident and native of Grass Valley, Calif. who served a tour of duty in Iraq during his time in the US Marine Corps, and had family in Burnet and California.

Wood was booked in Burnet County Jail on April 12 and remains there on bond of $15,000.

The next hearing in the case is scheduled for May 27, exactly two years after the offense allegedly took place on May 27, 2014.

Wood has a criminal history in Burnet County of charges of possession of drug paraphernalia and an alcohol related misdemeanor.
