Texas Tech chancellor to visit Marble Falls campus

The Texas Tech University Regional Teaching Site at Highland Lakes will host a community meet-and-greet for Texas Tech University System Chancellor Robert L. Duncan and Interim President John Opperman.

The event is set to take place from 2:30-3:15 p.m. on Friday, May 6 at the Frank Fickett Educational Center at 806 Steve Hawkins Parkway in Marble Falls.

The Chancellor and President are visiting the regional site to learn about programs and initiatives and to meet community stakeholders who work to advance and enhance opportunities for students who attend Texas Tech University locally. Both Chancellor Duncan and Dr. Opperman are focused on providing the regional site with the resources needed to achieve its mission.

The event celebrates the administration’s continued support of Texas Tech University’s Regional Teaching Site in Marble Falls.

“We are elated that both Chancellor Duncan and President Opperman are coming to learn about the importance of Texas Tech’s presence in the Hill Country region,” said Dr. Kelly Fox, director of the regional site. “We are dedicated to providing academic degrees and certifications that meet the needs of our communities. If you haven’t been to the Frank Fickett Education Center, you will enjoy seeing higher education at work through collaborative partnerships with the community.”

The Frank Fickett Educational Center is owned by the Marble Falls Economic Development Corporation (EDC). Christian Fletcher, the Executive Director of the EDC, stated, “We feel that supporting a strong and accessible higher education system is a critical component of the economic development of Marble Falls. The community benefits from wise investment in its human capital. When our citizens have the opportunity and resources to succeed in the education system, we reap the rewards of an educated and productive workforce. Texas Tech University is an important link in the economic growth of the region.”
