Boshears becomes interim GSPD chief

The City of Granite Shoals confirmed Thursday, May 5, that Gary Boshears has been named interim chief of the Granite Shoals Police Department (GSPD).
Boshears has been with the department since 2006, serving a detective investigator captain since 2013.
Today, Friday, May 6, is the final day of employment with the city for former chief J.P. Wilson.
City Manager Ken Nickel confirmed also that Wilson has been on administrative leave since April 18. It was on the evening of that day he was involved in a traffic accident in Marble Falls.
The father of three, Boshears has lived in Burnet County for almost 21 years. Following graduation from Marble Falls High School, he earned a bachelor of science degree in criminal justice administration with a concentration in management, as well as a master of public administration degree. He holds Master Peace Officer Certification from the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE), as well as numerous other certifications that include TCOLE Advanced Instructor and Sexual Assault Family Violence Investigations Instructor.
Boshears is a candidate for the Marble Falls Independent School District Board of Trustees.
