As storms hovered over Burnet County on Saturday, a young girl was thought missing and was then recovered near a creek on west Park Road 4 during a flash flood warning.

The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood warning and flood advisory for the Highland Lakes area Saturday afternoon, remaining effective until 7:30 p.m. Saturday evening. The warning stated heavy rain due to thunderstorms could lead to urban and small stream flooding, especially possible “in areas along and south of Highway 29.”
At 5:22 p.m., dispatchers reported the child had been located. Texas Parks and Wildlife Game Wardens, Cassie Volunteer Fire Department and Hoover Valley Volunteer Fire Department were all involved in the search.
At 5:26 p.m., dispatchers reported that EMS units were en route to attend to the girl.
A hazardous weather outlook was also issued Saturday afternoon, stating that “isolated strong thunderstorms are possible today. Hail and gusty winds are the main threats. These strong storms are also capable of producing locally heavy rainfall. This could lead to a flash flood threat.”
The outlook stated that strong thunderstorms would remain possible Sunday through Thursday.
