Stanford finalist for WISD helm
Wade Stanford
Wade Stanford, assistant superintendent of administrative operations for the Marble Falls Independent School District (MFISD) is poised to become the next superintendent of the Westwood ISD, after a vote Thursday night by that East Texas school board.
During a special called board meeting on July 7, Westwood ISD trustees named Stanford their lone finalist to become their next superintendent. State law will require a 21-day waiting period after a finalist is chosen before the district may formally appoint a superintendent and execute a contract.
Westwood ISD serves 1,700 students in grades pre-K to 12 in Palestine and west central Anderson County. Stanford's contract is expected to be approved July 28 by the Westwood ISD Board of Trustees.
Joining Stanford in Palestine will be his wife, Marla, who is the attendance coordinator at Marble Falls Middle School.
“It has truly been an honor to be a part of Marble Falls ISD,” said Stanford. “It has been my privilege to work alongside the outstanding teachers, staff, and school board as we have worked to make a difference in the lives of students. Marla and I have great memories and relationships from our four years in Marble Falls. We are excited about the next chapter in our lives as we follow the path God has laid out for us in Westwood ISD.”
Stanford joined MFISD in 2012 as the executive director of business operations. He has since served in the district as the assistant superintendent of administrative operations.
“During the four years he has served the Marble Falls ISD community, Mr. Stanford has been the guiding force of virtually every initiative,” said MFISD Superintendent Chris Allen, PhD. “From leading discussions regarding instructional technology implementation to facilitating processes used to select district and campus leaders, Mr. Stanford leaves a positive and lasting imprint on Marble Falls.”
