A Burnet County man was arrested on Wednesday for allegedly peeping on his neighbor via surveillance equipment.
James George Williamson, 44, was arrested Wednesday, July 6 on charge of invasive visual recording in a bathroom or dressing room, a state jail felony.
Burnet County Chief Sheriff's Deputy Joe Canady said on Wednesday, deputies received a call from a resident in the 100 block of County Road 118 who thought she found a camera in the bathroom of her home.
“Deputies found what they did believe was a camera going through the wall,” Canady said, adding that the home was a duplex that shared a wall with the suspect. A hole had been drilled through the wall and the camera had been inserted in the hole. “The wires went into the neighbors house.”
Williamson, the neighbor, was arrested that day.
Canady said the incident is still under investigation to “find out why and what.” Authorities do not know if are any other victims in this case, Canady said.
“It's not common to have something like this happen. It's always concerning when it does,” he said.
Canady said the camera that was used was a small camera that was “probably available for purchase at a surveillance store.”
Williamson has no prior charges of any similar activity.
