Kyle Stephen McAlister, 65, of Kingsland, Texas went to rest in Heaven on Sunday, Aug. 14, 2016.
Kyle was born on Sept. 23, 1950 in Big Spring, Texas to George and Lavonia McAlister.
He was preceded in death by his parents George and Lavonia McAlister, and his brother Clint McAlister.
He is survived by his wife Tara McAlister; son Jake and his wife Toffee McAlister of Midland, Texas; son Travis and his wife Ann McAlister of San Antonio; son Kent and his wife Gretchen McAlister of Denver, Colorado; son Taylor Smith of Midland, and son Hunter Smith of Chicago, Illinois.
He is also survived by his four grandchildren Rhodes McAlister, English McAlister, Campbell McAlister, and Wynn McAlister.
He is also survived by his brother Mike McAlister and partner Sandy Roddy of Irving, and his sister Cindy Hillman and her husband Randy of Big Spring, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Kyle graduated from Big Spring High School in 1969 where he was president of the student council, captain of the football team, and class favorite.
At the University of Texas at Austin, Kyle was president of Delta Tau Delta and a member of the Silver Spurs Service Organization before receiving a BBA in Finance in 1975.
Kyle started a real estate business while attending UT and sold it in 1975 to join Tesoro Petroleum Corporation as a crude oil representative in San Antonio, Texas.
He founded his own company, Questor Petroleum, a crude oil trading and transportation company in 1977 and served as president for 39 years.
In 1981, Kyle formed Questor Drilling, Inc. and Questor Trucking, Inc.
These companies were sold to Solomon Brothers in 1990 changing the name to Patterson Drilling Company and continues today as a successful drilling company.
In 1982, Kyle started Questor Pipeline Company which built and continues to operate numerous offshore pipelines.
During the 1980s, Kyle also developed a bovine embryo transfer center in New Braunfels, Texas known as Parthenon Corporation.
Parthenon Corporation produced Brahman, Angus, Simmental, Simbrah and Red Brangus cattle, which were exhibited and marketed throughout the world.
While in his time in New Braunfels, Kyle was a member of the downtown Rotary Club, where he honorary lifetime member.
Kyle lived a life of service to his family, friends, and colleagues.
In 1979, Kyle was the one of the founding directors and inspiration for the formation of the Carl McCain Foundation.
The Foundation has given $8 million to families in the petroleum industry who incurred catastrophic medical expenses beyond their financial means.
All knew Kyle’s true passion was his relationship with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Kyle was a lifetime disciple of Jesus who mentored many people throughout the years.
Kyle never met a stranger and had a giving spirit the size of Texas.
All are invited to celebrate Kyle’s life on Friday, Aug. 19, 2016 at 6 p.m. at the Lake Side Pavilion in Marble Falls.
A private family burial service will be held the following morning.
Please join the family at 11 a.m. Saturday for a memorial service and reception at the Hill Country Fellowship in Burnet, Texas.
