On Thursday, Oct. 20, Manuel “Manny” Lunoff gathered the staff of Marble Falls High School to announce that Friday would be his last day as principal.
Marble Falls Independent School District (MFISD) Superintendent Chris Allen, PhD Allen was at Lunoff's side for the Thursday staff meeting, praising him as a “good man” and asking for cooperation in respecting Lunoff's simple statement that he was leaving for “personal reasons.”
Parents of students also received individual personal electronic messages from Lunoff. He shared with them that the district had secured as an interim principle, Emmett Aubry, who most recently served as interim principal for Lake Travis High School.
“Mr. Aubry is an experienced secondary administrator,” said Bruce Peckover, MFISD communications coordinator. “He served Lake Travis High School and Lake Travis Middle School as they searched for new principals. His service here will allow the district to go through a search process in the spring with the largest pool of candidates for the best possible principal for Marble Falls High School.”
A retired superintendent and a former school principal, Aubry resides in Briarcliff. His work became known to Allen in the days when the MFISD administrator was deputy superintendent of Lake Travis ISD.
“One of the many aspects of Marble Falls ISD I most appreciate is the focus on the family, so I appreciate the support I have received and continue to receive as I take the next steps in my life and career,” read the message. “I am continually impressed with the students and the faculty of MFHS, and I am confident in the District's ability to select the person who is worthiest of being called your principal.”
Lunoff joined the MFISD in May 2012, when he served as president of the Texas Association of Secondary Principals. He had been recognized as Principal of the Year for Region II as principal of Mathis High School, and Principal of the Year for Region XIII as principal of Hutto High School. An educator for more than two decades, he holds a bachelor's degree from the University of Texas at Austin and a master's from Texas A&M University at Corpus Christi.
