Velma Marie Jackson Maugham

May 13, 1940 ~ March 9, 2017

Velma Marie Jackson Maugham, 76, received her angel wings on Thursday, March 9, 2017, surrounded by her loving family. Velma was born on May 13, 1940, in Marble Falls, Texas, to Fay Laird and J.T. “Pete” Jackson. She married Willie Maugham Sr. on October 19, 1957. In their 58 years of marriage, they had four children. Velma was a stay-at-home mother for many years, during which time she raised plants in her greenhouse. After the children grew older, she went to work. She began with working at the Northwood Health Center and later found her true passion, working for the Marble Falls Independent School District, where she worked until she retired.

Usually wherever you saw Daddy, Momma wasn’t far behind. The same was true in their passing. Velma is preceded in death by her husband Willie Maugham Sr., her parents, sister Betty Cooper and son-in-law Roger Crowder Sr.

She is survived by daughters Ollie Busby (Don), Betty Maugham, and Leslie Crowder; and one son, Willie Maugham Jr. (Amber); 16 grandchildren, Melissa and John Langs, Ronald and Stephanie Busby, Sarah and Jake Wardlow, Brandon and Peyton Maugham-Schobey, Roger Crowder Jr., Clint Crowder, Caitlin Hillis, Caitlin Pettit, Quinton, Conway and Kennedy Daniels, and Cooper Maugham; seven great grand-children, Johnny, Brycen, Rylee, AJ, Korra, Baylor and Marlee; brother, Lewis Jackson, sister, Faye Slocum; brothers-in-law, Walter, Cecil and Edmond Maugham; and sister-in-law, Earlene Maugham.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, March 14, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Clements Wilcox Funeral Chapel in Marble Falls. The funeral service will be at the Clements Wilcox chapel on Wednesday, March 15, at 2 p.m., with Brother Weldon French officiating. Pallbearers will include her grandsons and close friends. Interment will be at the Marble Falls City Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the care of Clements Wilcox Funeral Home in Marble Falls. Online condolences may be made at www.clementswilcoxfuneralhome.com.
