Robert Wade Jackson, 57, of Granite Shoals, passed away peacefully Sunday, May 7 at home, surrounded by loved ones after a short battle with Colorectal cancer.
Born November 24, 1959 in Burnet, to Stanton and Betty (Floyd) Jackson, Robert married his high school sweetheart, Minnie Lou (Candy) Kring, October 25, 1976 in Burnet.
He was a self-employed heavy equipment operator, working in the Highland Lakes area for 35 years.
Robert was a loving husband, father, and devoted family man who was loved and cherished by many.
He was always willing to lend a helping hand and his door was always open to anyone.
He never met a stranger.
Robert was an avid fisherman and hunter that enjoyed spending time in the outdoors with his family, even making the local newspaper a few times with fish he caught and bucks that he shot.
He also enjoyed going to the Sand Drags with his family and breeding and raising show pigs for the FFA and 4H kiddos for the surrounding county stock shows.
He loved to BBQ for his family and friends and rarely made a cut of meat that didn’t melt in your mouth, with a little traditional Texas BBQ taste and just the right amount of smoke.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and nephew Clifford Dwight Jackson.
Robert is survived by his beloved wife of 40 years, Candy Jackson; son James Stanton Jackson; daughters Misty and husband Clinton Davis and Pattie Jackson and boyfriend Martin Jones; grandson Everett Jones; brothers Dwight and wife Joddie Jackson, Bill Jackson, Willie Wall and wife Kim, Howard Wall and girlfriend Jessica Hancock; sister Polly Clark and husband Travis and step-mom Phyllis Jackson.
He is also survived by his aunt Judy and uncle L.D. Jackson; uncle L.E. Floyd and Ray Goff, who considered Robert his hero and second father and Robert considered Ray as a second son, along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and close family friends.
Visitation will be held Thursday, May 11, from 8 p.m.-5 p.m. at Clements Wilcox Funeral Home in Marble Falls.
The family will be at the funeral home from 1 p.m.-5 p.m. for anyone wanting to visit with the family.
Funeral service will be held on Friday, May 12, at 1 p.m. located at the First Baptist Church in Granite Shoals, followed by graveside services at Smithwick Cemetery.
