Legacy Ministry of First Baptist Church of Marble Falls (FBCMF) is about to celebrate its first anniversary with a Legacy Fair, a barbecue dinner and concert on Sunday, Sept. 10.

For anyone interested in the programs of Legacy, which aim for purposeful living for folks age 55 and older, the fair that begins at 4:30 p.m. is the place to start because it offers a glimpse of programs for the next year.

At 6 p.m., youth of the church will serve a Spyke's Bar-B-Que dinner, followed by a musical program by Kayle Stephens.

Deadline to purchase the $5 tickets for the meal is Monday, Sept. 4 They may be picked up at the church office, 901 La Ventana Drive.

Whether you have participated in year one, interested in year two or would like to bring a friend or neighbor, please join us for an evening of information, food and fun,” said an announcement in the latest Legacy newsletter. “Legacy is for members of FBCMF and anyone in the Highland Lakes who are age 55 or older.”

Programs already planned for year two include a new mentoring program to be conducted at Colt Elementary School and the church's own First Baptist Marble Falls Christian School.

Volunteers in the program are responding to studies that estimate almost half of young people enrolled in schools today are failing to reach their full potential for lack of an adult with interest or the time to make a positive and lasting impact.

A “bucket list” trip will be a fall foliage cruise in September 2018.

Day trips will include one to a science museum and others to performances of “Always Patsy Cline,” “The Nutcracker” and “The Grinch.”

Life skills programs will inform about cleaning up digital files, hunter safety and woodworking. Hobbyists will enjoy a Wreath Workshop, Lavender Program and Notecard Making.
