Gay Anita Bertling Galey

January 31, 1935 — September 4, 2017

Gay Anita Bertling Galey, 82, of Marble Falls, Texas, passed away on Sept. 4, 2017. She was born to Ray Fletcher and Linnie Catherine (Herring) Bertling on January 31, 1935, in Knippa, Texas.

Gay graduated from Marble Falls High School as valedictorian of her class in Marble Falls, Texas. She graduated from Southwest Texas College in San Marcos, Texas, with a major in Home Economics.

Gay had a very fruitful career in teaching. Her influence as an educator in the League City, Texas, area is indicative by the large number of students and co-workers she has inspired. Gay had many fond memories at League City Elementary. Some of Gay’s hobbies were sewing, cooking, and entertaining groups of people.

After 38 plus years serving as a teacher, Gay retired in 1996 and embarked on ministry with her husband Bill. They served as elders at the Victory Church of Highland Lakes for the past 13 years.

She is survived by her husband, Bill of Marble Falls; her children, Kim Wimberly of Fort Worth, Kurt Robert Galey and his wife Judy of College Station, Texas, Kevin Galey and his wife Leslie of Burleson, Texas, and Kelly Galey of League City; grandchildren, Jennifer Wimberly Cypress, Bethany Wimberly Kennedy, Emily Galey, Elliot Galey, Jacob Galey, Micah Galey and Joel Galey; and three great-grandchildren. Gay’s grandson, Nathan Wimberly, precedes her in death.

Visitation was held Thursday, Sept. 7, at the Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home. Funeral service is planned for Friday, Sept. 8, at 2 p.m. at the Marble Falls Church of Christ, 711 Broadway St. Marble Falls.
