Genevieve (Gen) C. Lacy, 99, of San Angelo, Texas, died in San Angelo, Texas, on Nov. 30, 2017. She was born to Peter and Mathilda Renslo in Caledonia, Minnesota, on Aug. 21, 1918. During her 99 years of life she was a devoted wife and soulmate to her husband, Granville H. Lacy, who was born in 1915 in Marble Falls, Texas. They met and married in Minneapolis, Minnesota, in 1942 while Gen was working as a “beauty operator” (hair dresser). It was love at first sight and Gen followed Granville (Tex) through many states and jobs before coming to Texas while Gary, their first son, was still a baby. Tex worked as a law enforcement peace officer all over Texas and Gen was always there to support him and raise their two boys.
Gen was a wizard with the sewing needle and crochet hook, sewing numerous articles of clothing and making many afghans. She also took up painting with water colors in her 60s and won awards for her beautiful landscapes and pictures of birds. Her talent with needle and thread and artist paint brush amazed all who knew her. Gen’s life on a farm as she grew up in Minnesota prepared her well for some of the trials and hardships she had to face during her early years of marriage. Her talent and grit kept her and the family going when times were tough. She is loved and missed by all her knew her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Peter and Mathilda Renslo of Lacrosse, Wisconsin; her siblings, Orville Renslo (Yakima, Washington) and Mildred Kneesel (La Crosse, Wisconsin); and her husband, Granville Lacy (San Angelo, Texas).
Survivors include two sons, Gary Lacy and wife Joanna Lacy of Azle, Texas, and Roy Lacy and wife Betty Lacy of San Angelo; grandchildren, Angela Baldwin and husband Matt Baldwin, Debbie Taylor and husband Bill Taylor, and Shayna Lacy; great-grandchildren, Emily, Lauren and Connor Baldwin and Abram and Mallory Taylor, all of San Angelo.

Visitation will be held at Jenkins Funeral Home from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Dec. 9, with graveside services to follow at City Cemetery in Marble Falls at 2 p.m.
