Dorothy “Dottie” Peterson Seabaugh

March 28, 1931 — December 24, 2017

Dorothy Peterson Seabaugh was born Dorothy Lucille Peterson on March 28, 1931, in the village of Pleasant Hill in Sabine Parish, Louisiana. Dorothy, also known as “Dottie,” passed away peacefully in Marble Falls, Texas, on Dec. 24, 2017. She was preceded in death by her daughter Donna Seabaugh; husband Harold Seabaugh; parents Robert and Norma Peterson; and sister Peggy Nigerville. She is survived by her son Robert Seabaugh and his wife Liz; daughter Denise Kniffin and her husband Doug; daughter Kimberly Crisp; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Dorothy was raised in Zwolle, Louisiana, and married her high school sweetheart Harold Wood Seabaugh on Dec. 31, 1949. They moved to Shreveport, Louisiana, and later moved to Texas. In Texas they lived in Houston, Nederland, and purchased a lake house in Blue Lake. In 1971, the Seabaughs moved to Blue Lake and lived in the Marble Falls area for the remainder of their lives.

Dorothy was a wonderful cook, loving mother, and devoted wife. Dottie was not only a nickname; it was her artist signature on the many paintings and crafts that she produced over the years. She especially loved to paint bluebonnets and was an avid member of the Highland Lakes Art Guild. She and Harold traveled the world together to many places including Alaska, Canada, the Cayman Islands, the Czech Republic, France, and Germany. She loved bragging about her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

The family will hold a private memorial to celebrate her life. Memorial donations may be made to MD Anderson Cancer Center or a charity of your choice.
