Jeff Lavelle Brown, 94, died of natural causes on Saturday, Jan. 7, 2018, at the Baylor Scott & White Hospital in Lakeway Texas. Jeff leaves his wife of 73 years, Elizabeth Sue (Denson) Brown; his son, Bob Brown and his wife Vee Brown; son-in-law Ray Daily; and Jeff's grandchildren, Robert Matthew Brown and his wife Monica Brown, Kris and Jay Brown, Amanda Huerta, Angelica Covington and her husband Kevin Covington; and six great grandchildren, including Brad Oiler, Taylor Brown, Matthew James Modesto, Jacob and Maritza Covington, and Noa Brown; and many close friends.

Jeff was adopted at 14-months of age. Among those who preceded him in death are his daughter, Ginger Brown Daily; Jeff's adopted parents, John and Jessie Brown; his biological parents, Arthur and Marry-Ann Pritchard; Jeff's brother, Jack Pritchard; sister, Mary-Alice Harrison; and half-sisters, Thelma Morgan and Trella Sparks.

Born in 1923, Jeff spent his early years in the small West Texas community of Dunn, in Scurry County (near Snyder, Texas). Growing up on a farm, as many did in his generation, he aspired to get an education and attended John Tarleton University in Stephenville, Texas, as a journalism major. His college days were interrupted by World War II, and he volunteered for military service in the Army Air Corps, graduating as a pilot and Second Lieutenant. Jeff served more than dozen missions on a B-24 Bomber, as part of the 15th Air Force out of Foggia, Italy, until the war in Europe ended in 1945.

After World War II, Jeff spent several years with two major oil companies, Texaco and Fina. With a strong desire for entrepreneurships, he and Sue founded several businesses in the Big Spring, Texas, where they owned both commercial and residential real estate, and insurance brokerages respectively. He later served on the Texas Real Estate board and served as an appraiser for many years until he retired, holding the MAI and SRA designations.

During his business years, Jeff was very active in civic and trade affairs, and traveled worldwide with his wife Sue. Having also served as a Mason for more than 70 years Jeff had the distinguished honor of becoming a 32nddegree Mason. Furthermore, Jeff was very active in the church, including serving on the committee in the late 1980s to build the First United Methodist Church in Marble Falls, Texas.

There will be a viewing at Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home in Marble Falls on Friday, Jan. 12, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. The funeral service will be Saturday, Jan. 13, at 10 a.m. at First United Methodist Church in Marble Falls, followed with the burial service at Lakeland Hills Memorial Park in Burnet.
