Children's Day comes Saturday, rain or shine

April showers have never dampened the Marble Falls Children's Day Celebration from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, April 21, will be no exception.
“Just wear a jacket if it's cool and bring a poncho or umbrella in case it rains a little,” said Ely Banuet Rodriguez, founder and president. “We've seen it before and all the games and food and fun will go on in Johnson Park anyway on Saturday.
“If it showers, don't scurry away. Just stay. The sun will come out.”
The park, located at 203 Avenue J, will be lined with 90 booths, not just with games but also with entertainment, rides and educational and craft centers. A Tombola or Wheel of Prizes has been added to other prize stations such as a fish pond.
“We have something new for the children this year,” said Rodriguez. “Each child will get a beautiful, re-usable little jute bag, a goodie bag, to take home all the little prizes and things they create.”
The grand opening ceremony from 10-10:15 a.m. at the park amphitheater stage will include the traditional balloon release.
Anyone can enter the talent show that takes the stage occasionally from 10:15 a.m.-1:15 p.m. Lids themselves will perform comedy acts, dancing, music, magic, gymnastics and more.
Every child that stays to the closing assembly at 2:15 p.m. has a chance to win the big prizes being given away. The tickets will be handed out at the stage at 1:30 p.m., just before games close down for the day.
“There will be a special presentation, 'CHRIST for the Nations',” at 2 o'clock, while they wait for the drawing,” said Rodriguez.
“We just want children and their families from all over the area to have a wonderful day that doesn't cost a thing,” said Rodriguez.
