Paul Craig Kisel (Ranger Paul) of Denison, Texas, returned home to his Lord and Savior on Sunday, Oct. 7, 2018, at the age of 59. He was born July 29, 1959. Paul was an avid outdoorsman, a loving father, grandfather, and husband, and was a dear friend to many. Paul served as a state park ranger and superintendent for over thirty-five years and volunteered countless hours at 4H and FFA events as well as with the Boy Scouts of America.
Paul is survived by the love of his life, Shelly Kisel, of Denison; his daughters, Jamie Fields and husband Matthew of Rochelle, Texas, and Blaire Horak and husband Frank of Fort Worth; and his best friend and son, Mitchell Kisel, of Denison. Paul is also survived by his three brothers, David Kisel of San Antonio, Jeff Kisel and wife Dana of Rockport, and Todd Kisel and wife Jennifer of Round Rock, and by his mother-in-law, Lois Duncan, of Schertz, sister-in-law Shani Willy of Schertz, and brother-in-law Don Duncan of Indianapolis, Indiana. Paul is survived by a single grandchild, Deanna Fields, of Rochelle, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Paul was preceded in death by his father, John Kisel, and his mother, Kaydonna Friesen.
Paul was passionate about teaching children about nature and sharing his love for the outdoors. The family received visitors at Bratcher Funeral Home on Thursday, Oct. 11. Funeral services for Paul are scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 12, at Eisenhower State Park under the direction of Bratcher Funeral Home with Terry Rogers and Leston Fields officiating. Burial will take place at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 13, at Lakeland Hills Memorial Park in Burnet.
