City, school election filing deadline ends, Friday Feb. 15

With a week left for candidates for city council and school boards to file for election, the city of Marble Falls has four candidates in place for four positions on the May 4 ballot.
Marble Fall Mayor John Packer has filed for re-election as the candidate filing period continues until 5 p.m. Friday, Feb. 15. Also filing for re-election are Place 2 Councilmember Dave Rhodes and Place 4 Councilmember Celia Merrill, who would serve out the remainder of an unexpired term.
They join Reed Norman, who has filed for the Place 6 council seat left vacant after Meagan Klaeger Ruff resigned.
Granite Shoals
Four candidates have also filed to run for four positions on the Granite Shoals City Council, including Mayor Carl Brugger, who is seeking re-election to his third term. Brugger was first elected mayor in May 2015 and was re-elected in May 2017. At this time, he is the only person on the ballot for mayor.
The first and only candidate so far to file to run for Place 1 on the ballot is Ron Munos, 68, who is retired. He is seeking to succeed Councilmember Anita Hisey, who is not eligible to run for re-election to Place 1 after having reached the end of her third consecutive term.
Place 3 Councilmember Jim Davant has filed to run for re-election and is the only candidate in that race as of Monday. Davant was first appointed to fill an unexpired term in October 2016 and then was elected in May 2017 to a full term. He is currently the mayor pro tem.
Place 5 Councilmember Todd Holland is seeking re-election to his third term on the council and is the only candidate in that race. He was first elected in May 2015 and was re-elected to a second term in May 2017.
Cottonwood Shores
Three places are up for grabs on the ballot, including the mayoral position and Places 2 and 4 on the city council, and so far, the incumbents have all filed for re-election, according to City Administrator/City Secretary J.C. Hughes.
The incumbent mayor is Donald Orr, while Brigitte Thomas holds Place 2 and Michael Hibdon holds Place 4.
Marble Falls ISD
Two spots are up for grabs on the Marble Falls Independent School District Board of Trustees. They include Place 1, currently held by Gary Boshears, and Place 2, currently held by Rick Edwards.
Highland Haven
The city of Highland Haven has three open spots on the Board of Aldermen on the ballot, but so far, no one has filed to run, according to City Secretary Jeannie Grueztner.
Positions on the ballot are currently held by Mayor Pro Tem Lonnie Ball and Aldermen Alvin Kahanek and Bill Passmore.
