Glenda Faye Phillips Knox

Glenda Faye Phillips Knox, 81, died early Thursday, Feb. 14, 2019, in Bee Cave, surrounded by loved ones.

She is survived by daughters Lisa Hollis, Dana Knox Wright (and son-in-law, Todd Wright), and Kristi Knox Day (and son-in-law Bill Day). She was Nana to grandchildren Joshua Branson and Laci Bjella (and husband Brandon Bjella); Adam Wright (and wife Doran Bostwick), Jacob Wright (and wife Miriam Said) and Lainey Wright; and Cameron Day and Liam Day; great-grandchildren Lily and Haley Branson; Skylar Branson and Peyton Bjella; Sepp Wright and Frances Lyle Wright.

Glenda was preceded in death by her husband of four decades, Rex Knox, and one grandson, Blake Harding.

Glenda lived life full of joy, and was well known for her moxie, humor and kindness. She was a fierce defender of her daughters and a dear friend to many.

Born in Arkansas on Sept. 3, 1937, she grew up in West Texas and moved to the Texas Hill Country in retirement. She lived several different places and made treasured, lifelong friends everywhere. Her children remember her as an involved and fun mother who spent many dinnertimes giggling at the kitchen table with them, much to Rex’s consternation. She loved singing and playing the piano, and could feed a family of five — and have leftovers — on a box of Kraft spaghetti. In the 1960s she was on the forefront of the “junking” trend, schooling her daughters in the finer art of scoring the perfect find. At age 70, Glenda realized her dream of owning an antiques shop when she opened Whimseys in Llano. For the last ten years she was an integral part of the Agape Haus home church community and ministry.

A graveside service for family and friends took place Sunday, Feb. 17, at Lakeland Hills Memorial Park outside of Marble Falls, followed by interment.
