Burnet County Sheriff's Office commerical vehicle inspection officer targets safer roadways

Burnet County Sheriff's Deputy William Talamantez, a former DPS commercial vehicle enforcement officer, was hired by the county agency to inspect larger commercial vehicles to ensure safety on the roadways.

In its first fiscal year of operation, the Burnet County Sheriff's Office commercial traffic unit has helped clear the way for safer roadways.
Deputy William Talamantez not only specializes in commercial traffic safety but works alongside the Texas Department of Public Safety CVE (commercial vehicle enforcement) division to assist in the agency's monthly inspection program.
“Most of the things we're finding is equipment violations and overweight violations,” BCSO Sheriff Calvin Boyd said. “We're trying to make sure everyone is driving safe trucks.”
Talamantez was selected, in part, due to his 30 year-career with DPS prior to hiring on with the sheriff's office.
His specialty at DPS helped cultivate the county agency's current partnership with troopers.
“He was with CVE when he was with DPS,” Boyd said. “That's why he works well here.” . . .
