Marjorie Mae Leverett Becker

Marjorie Mae Leverett Becker was born Nov. 17, 1933, to Hubert H. Leverett and Ruby Jean Byrd, in Pleasanton, Texas. She passed peacefully in Temple, Texas on June 28, 2019.

She was raised on her grandmother’s farm and later moved to Cottonwood Road in San Antonio where her father was a janitor at Burbank High School.

Two houses down lived the rambunctious Becker family. The families melded into one as best friends married and started not one, but two Becker/Leverett families. On the Jan. 3, 1953, Marjorie married Alfred Becker and brought four children into this world: Catherine, Carolyn, Michael and Mark.

For 60 years and six months, that marriage prevailed through frequent military moves around the country and the Philippines. Alfred spent solo tours to Vietnam twice and South Korea, leaving Marjorie with the brood. They took RV trips from Alaska to Nova Scotia and all points in between. They retired to Granite Shoals where they built their house with a hand saw and their sons.

Marjorie later served as mayor in the 1980’s, and their final move was to Hoover Valley, Burnet. Marjorie was also constantly working on crafty projects such as sewing, crochet and painting.

Marjorie was predeceased by Alfred; her parents; and a granddaughter, Rebecca. She is survived by children, Catherine Miller (James), Carolyn Watts (Lamar), Michael Becker (Patricia), and Mark Becker (Tracey); grandchildren, Rebecca Alexander, Stephanie Bosworth, Timothy Miller, Amy Miller-Howard, Jessica Harden, Ben Becker, Charlie Becker, Nicole Yates, Justin Becker, Lane Becker and Ryan Becker; great-grandchildren, Cody Kidd, Brice Becker, Elam Harden, Silas Harden, Ella Becker, Emery Becker, Edie Becker and Rhett Becker.

The family wishes to acknowledge the care and support from the Temple Baylor Scott and White Hospital. They cared for mom and us through this ordeal. We would like to ask that donations be made to Wounded Warrior or any other Veterans organization, as our family has benefitted from serving this great country.

Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, July 2, 2019, at 10 a.m. at Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home, Marble Falls, burial following at Lakeland Hills Memorial Park, Burnet, Texas.
