Marble Falls Music Festival to feature top Texas Country artists

Raised in the Hill Country by a pair of musical parents, artist Brandon Alan grew up with exposure to a variety of genres and styles of music. He soon blazed his own trail, and began picking the guitar around the age of 11.

“My father was a guitarist but works in the medical field, and my mom was a pianist and works in the medical field as well, so I was surrounded by music growing up, but I ended up being the only one who pursued music as a profession,” Alan said. “I have been playing guitar for 23 years; that was my first love, and how I got into music.”

Alan soon began writing songs and performing in bars and restaurants and the young age of 14, and has been making records since 2008, having songs such as “Looking For You,” finding spots on the Texas Country charts.

Though Alan's albums are mixed and mastered in Nashville, Tennessee, he ensures all of his songs are recorded back home in the Hill Country.

“I cut all the songs in Austin,” Alan said. “It is very important to me that my music is born in Texas.

“Texas has such an eclectic music scene,” Alan added. “It has its own bastion of music, and here, 'local' artists have a different meaning than in other states because the level is so high.”

Alan's Texas-rooted music combines country, blues, and swing to create a unique, entertaining sound for his fans.

Along with teaching weekly music lessons at Harmony School of Creative Arts with his wife, Amber, Alan works as the Music Director for Lakeshore Church in Marble Falls, bringing his musical talents and values to the congregation.

“We keep it a community stage and try to showcase the local talent and intertwine that message where it fits,” Alan said.

Area residents and visitors will have the opportunity to listen to Alan's music as he joins John Arthur Martinez, Pauline Reese, Kyle Park, and Shinyribs at the Marble Falls Music Festival this Saturday, Sept. 21, participating as part of the local talent setting the stage for the night's headliners.

“This weekend's Music Festival is a culmination of the talent in this area; Jarrod Metzgar and the Chamber did a great job finding a diverse representation of Texas kind of music,” Alan said. “There is so much talent here; even if guests aren't from Texas, they'll think 'wow, this is what goes on here;' the artists are allowed to be the artists they are.”

Gates to Johnson Park Amphitheater in Marble Falls will open at 3 p.m. and Alan will begin performing at 4 p.m. The Festival will last until 11 p.m.

Johnson Park is located at 230 Avenue J, Marble Falls. Guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs. Vendors will have food available for purchase throughout the park, and beer and wine will be available for purchase at the park's newly installed concession stand.

Tickets are available online at stubwire.com until the day of the event for $15, and will be $20 at the gate. Children ages four through 12 are $5, and children under four are free.
