Burnet County Commissioners hosted a BOPATE collections event at the county's new recycling center, where they collected a record amount of latex paint products and tires as well as a good portion of used oil products and lead-acid batteries.

Burnet County officials deemed successful a re-use and recycling collection event at a new location due to a wealth of volunteer help and a record intake of old tires and latex paint.

The BOPATE event was held Saturday, Oct. 26 at the Burnet County Recycle/Re-use Facility, 2411 FM 963, just outside Burnet. BOPATE stands for batteries, oil, paint, antifreeze, tires and electronics.

“It went very well; it was pretty much seamless,” Burnet County Commissioner Joe Don Dockery said. “We filled up two 18-wheelers with tires and one gooseneck trailer full.” . . .
