Three workmen were injured Friday morning, July 14, when a scaffold collapsed at 1400 Ranch to Market Road 1431 in a commercial space adjacent to the new Bealls store.

The more seriously injured man was taken to Saint Davids South Austin Hospital and two more were transported to Seton Highland Lakes. As of late Friday, no information was available about the condition of any of the men.

"The call came in at 9:39 a.m. and Marble Falls Fire Rescue and Marble Falls Area Emergency Medical Service responded," said Marble Falls Fire Chief Russell Sander. "The men were working on the facade of the building. We don't know what caused the collapsed."

"Because it is a workplace accident, we will not handle the investigation," he said. "There are several possibilities for that, including OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration)."

Ground breaks today on new H-E-B store

Marble Falls residents will welcome the next step towards a brand-new, bigger and better H-E-B store today, April 7, with a groundbreaking ceremony at 10 a.m.

The ceremony will take place at the current store at 1503 Ranch to Market Road 1431 West. City officials and H-E-B leadership will be on hand to break ground and to give information about the new store design, its services and offerings and planned departments.

The new 111,000-square-foot store, which will be located next door and occupy the site of the former Bealls store as well, will offer new products, expanded departments, added services and low prices, H-E-B officials said, as the new store's footprint will be 35,000 square feet larger than the existing store.

The old store will continue operations while the new store is being built, H-E-B Marble Falls Unit Director David Crail said.

No sooner are barricades removed than the first intrepid motorist takes the new tarmac of Avenue N to a Ranch to Market Road 1431 destination. The new roadway opened at 8 a.m. Wednesday, June 29, ending the detour to Ford & Crew Home & Hardware, H-E-B and Bealls. A new home for the department store is well underway west of Avenue N.

Without fanfare, barricades were moved aside at 8 a.m. this morning Wednesday, June 28, on the new realignment of Avenue N with Bluebonnet Drive at Ranch to Market Road 1431 in Marble Falls.

City of Marble Falls employees washed the entire roadway Monday afternoon and spent the last hour today clearing chinaberry trees for an unobscured sightline to RM 1431 from the new Avenue N stop sign.

"The City is excited about the new road project and redevelopment of the area and would like to thank everyone for their patience during the construction," said Mayor John Packer.
