Brewing company partners with crisis network to feed families

When Bear King Brewing Co. owners opted to closed their dining service due to COVID-19 restrictions, they found another way to continue offering their good spirits to customers while lending their amenities to a charitable organization.

The business, located at 207 Ave. G in Marble Falls, re-opened its doors April 6 in a partnership with Highland Lakes Crisis Network (HLCN) focused on feeding families for free. …

Buchanan Dam man dies in dump truck, ATV collision

A Buchanan Dam man died March 28 after the all-terrain vehicle he was driving collided with a dump truck on Texas 261 near Bluffton, according to the Department of Public Safety report.

The incident happened around 11:33 a.m. that morning on the remote roadway, located in Llano County.

James Richard Von-Krosigk, 64, was initially sitting on an ATV parked at the entryway of his residence as a southbound 1996 Freightliner dump truck approached on Texas 261.

“Unit 1 (the ATV) shot out in front of unit 2 (the dump truck),” the DPS report stated.

The dump truck “swerved to the left crossing the double yellow line, trying to avoid crashing into unit 1 (the ATV),” according to the report.

Midnight crash sends motorcyclist to trauma center

No word is yet available on the condition of a motorcyclist airlifted from an accident between Kingsland and Buchanan Dam at 12:44 a.m. this morning, Friday, July 28.

Records of the call that came in to the Llano County Sheriff's Office (LCSO) just shortly indicated the rider was without a helmet.

The Texas Department of Public Safety is in charge of the investigation, but LCSO, Llano Emergency Medical Service and the Buchanan Dam Volunteer Fire Department responded to the call. AirEvac transported the injured man to the trauma center at Baylor Scott & White Hospital – Williamson County in Round Rock.

The scene of the accident was between Twin Liquors, 7317 West Ranch to Market Road 1431 and Pat's Pub at 7018 West RM 1431.

Buchanan Dam man arrested on rape and assault charges

A Buchanan Dam man and convicted felon was arrested on two violent felony charges after Llano County authorities claimed he assaulted an adult and child in two separate incidences.

William “Willie” Canchola, 30, was arrested on Saturday, Aug. 20, on charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and aggravated sexual assault of a child, second-degree and first-degree felonies respectively.

Llano County Sheriff's Lt. Glen Williams said the two incidences occurred in Buchanan Dam, but would not reveal the location of the offense.

“It was separate incidences with a separate victim,” he said, adding that the victim of the aggravated assault with a deadly weapon was an adult.

Authorities would not say whether the victim was a member of Canchola's family or household.
