The annual Marble Falls High School Homecoming parade will be held on Thursday, Sept. 12 beginning at 6 p.m on Manzano Mile. The parade will start about halfway between Colt Elementary and the water tower and conclude at the visitors parking lot.

Have you ever thought about “treading the boards” on stage? That’s an old Broadway phrase often associated with performing theatre before a live audience, and on Aug. 17 and 18, the Hill Country Community Theatre (HCCT) in Cottonwood Shores gave 18 of your friends and neighbors the opportunity to do just that and share their talents.

The Hill Country Community Theatre presents “Doublewide, Texas,” the fourth show of its 2018-19 season¸ by playwrights Jessie Jones, Nicholas Hope, and Jamie Wooten.

In this hilarious, fast-paced comedy, the inhabitants of one of the smallest trailer parks in Texas — four doublewides and a shed — are thrown for a loop when they realize the nearby town of Tugaloo is determined to annex them.

The lighted Jack-o-Lanterns on Ranch to Market Road 2147, between Marble Falls and Cottonwood Shores, are the entries in an annual family Halloween pumpkin carving contest.

Occupants of a boat that caught fire on Lake LBJ Friday afternoon, June 9, escaped without injury but their craft was a total loss.

The first call about the fire came in to the Horseshoe Bay Police Department about 3 p.m. Friday and most of the fire departments in the area responded with mutual aid to the fire that was within the call area of the Cottonwood Shores Volunteer Fire Department.

“The occupants of the boat we're not able to extinguish the fast moving fire on board,” said a Texas Parks & Wildlife Department (TPWD) spokesperson. “They had to put on lifejackets and jump out of the boat to safety.”

“The occupants of the boat were transported by a bystander to the Lake LBJ Marina where Cottonwood VFD and Marble Falls Area EMS evaluated them for injuries,” said Fire Chief Joe Morris of Horseshoe Bay Fire Rescue.

The possibility of a Colorado River bridge below Wirtz Dam clearly is gathering a head of steam and John Q. Citizen is about to weigh in on the project.

In a meeting conducted by the Capitol Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (CAMPO) Friday, Sept. 9, in Marble Falls City Council chambers, Burnet County governmental leaders and first responders were enthusiastic. Now, CAMPO is beginning a campaign to inform the public and gather opinions from residents, owners of property and businesses and from lake users.

A bridge below Wirtz Dam to connect north-south traffic between Ranch to Market Roads (RM) 1431 and 2147 has been a long-held priority of County Judge James Oakley.

The Cottonwood Shores City Council at its meeting on Thursday, March 17, unanimously passed a revised version of noise ordinance 8005, a staple on council agendas since January and an issue within the city for at least two years.
Although the noise ordinance applies to heavy equipment, vehicles and firearms, among many other sources of loud noise, complaints have been directed mainly at On The Rocks restaurant in the Castle Rock section of the city.

Between April and October of last year, two residents called officers 35 times about noise at the restaurant, with 16 of those calls made in one month alone.
