Double Horn residents petition to dissolve city

Officials confirmed that a group of residents from the newly-formed city of Double Horn has gathered enough signatures to ask for a second incorporation election.

A group of Double Horn residents have petitioned for an election to dissolve the incorporation of the newly-formed municipality, alleging “no benefit” to the residents and lack of powers to control mining industry growth nearby.

A district judge denied a petition filed by the State Office of the Attorney General's Office April 3 to dissolve the newly-formed city of Double Horn. Defense Attorneys Andy Messer and Patty Akers represented the municipality, referred to the state's lawsuit as "improper."

A district judge denied a petition April 3 by the Texas Office of the Attorney General to go forward with a lawsuit to dissolve the newly-formed city of Double Horn.

City of Double Horn elects first mayor, aldermen

Cathy Sereno made history Tuesday, Feb. 12, becoming the first mayor of the newly incorporated City of Double Horn in final but unofficial election results.

Sereno received 85 votes to top a field of nine candidates who ran in a special election held at the Spicewood Community Center to choose a mayor and five aldermen for the city. As the top votegetter, she is automatically elected mayor.

A wildfire and an historic flood event which washed a way the FM 2900 bridge in Kingsland were among the top 2018 stories in the Marble Falls area. Double Horn Reunion to be held Saturday

Residents of the Rockvale Community gather for an early record of what continues today as an annual Double Horn – Rockvale Reunion. This year it takes place Saturday, July 30, at the Marble Falls Church of Christ.

The annual Double Horn – Rockvale Reunion will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 30, at the Church of Christ, 711 Broadway Street in Marble Falls.

The two communities that grew up southeast of Marble Falls in the 1850's first thrived and then diminished over the decades, but a sense of community brings about 100 residents and friends, old and new, together each year.
