Texas Rangers launch Llano County Jail death probe

A Sunrise Beach man's death while incarcerated in the Llano County Jail Oct. 29 has prompted an investigation by the Texas Rangers.

Benjamin Braden Hoffman, 41, was “found unresponsive” around 12:29 p.m. while in the observation area of the facility, 2001 Texas 16, officials said.

The probe, considered protocol for in-custody deaths, will examine clues including cause and circumstances surrounding his death. . . .

Conditions keep burn bans on in Burnet and Llano counties

The question of a burn ban wasn’t included on Tuesday’s Llano County Commissioners Court meeting agenda, but that makes little difference in the ban itself. The ban remains in effect until either the court changes it, or County Judge Ron Cunningham declares the need for a burn ban over.

That seems unlikely to happen soon . . . .

Llano County Commissioners propose 2019-20 budget, tax rate

Llano County commissioners Monday, Aug. 12, tentatively approved a proposed fiscal year 2020 budget and tax rate while sending an applicant for a tiny home project back for more work and continuing a county-wide burn ban.
