The Texas Historical Commission (THC) and noted conservator Robert Marshall of R. Alden Marshall & Associates have restored an 80-year-old Llano County historical marker from damage caused by vandals in February.

The 1936 Texas Centennial marker commemorating a battle with American Indians on Packsaddle Mountain in 1873 was transformed Tuesday, May 23, after a full day of restoration work.

A Kingsland man, Billy Joe Roush, was arrested Tuesday, May 16, on charges of aggravated sexual assault of a child.

Roush, 68, who was arrested on a warrant out of the 424th District Court, remains in the Llano County Jail on $100,000 bond.

The incident is believed to have occurred during a family vacation during Spring Break in the Big Bend area of West Texas, according to a Llano County Sheriff's Office spokesperson.

U.S. Representative K. Michael Conaway (R-Texas) will hold a town hall meeting Tuesday, April 11, from 1:30-2:30 p.m. at the Family Life Center of Lutie Watkins United Methodist Church, 800 Wright Street in Llano.

One of Conaway's district offices is located in Llano and he has conducted frequent meetings for constituents since he was elected to the then-new Dist. 11 in 2004.

While many elected officials have taken heat for avoiding town hall meetings, Conaway has posted an invitation to his on his website.

Llano County commissioners started the clock ticking on final approval of the 2016-2017 budget and tax rate Monday when they unanimously approved proposed figures for both.
They have 30 days from that vote to make the decision final. Public hearings on both the tax rate and the budget are scheduled for the regular commissioner meeting at 9 a.m. Monday, Sept. 12, at the justice of the peace courtroom in the Llano County Law Enforcement Center, 2001 N. Bessemer St. in Llano.
The proposed budget is $14,719,664, $253,231 more than the budget County Judge Mary Cunningham originally offered commissioners and $623,554 more than the current budget.
Most of the difference between the final proposal and Cunningham’s offer came in increases for law enforcement agencies, the judge said.
