The routine check of a suspicious man on foot led to something of a scramble in the City of Sunrise Beach Village Sunday, July 10, and resulted in five arrests and confiscation of 44 grams of methamphetamine.
Sunrise Beach Police Officer Ruben Saucedo made the stop of the man later identified as 23-year-old Matthew Moss and who claimed to be homeless.
“Officer Saucedo obtained the male's driver's license,” said Police Chief Laurie Brock. “Then the male took the license back … and fled on foot into a heavily wooded area.”
Saucedo gave chase but called in backup when he was unsuccessful in catching up with the man.
“Llano County Sheriff's Department units were able to stop a car coming into the city and learned that the occupants were en route to pick up the suspect that fled,” said a press release from Brock.
