Thunderstorms which swept through the area on the morning of Tuesday, May 26, brought lightning, rain, flash flooding and hail, as pictured here in Round Mountain at the Southwest Center on U.S. 281 in Blanco County. Other reports included pea-sized hail in parts of Kingsland. Coming up for the rest of the week, expect highs in the mid-to-high 80s on Wednesday and Thursday with a 60 percent chance of storms on Wednesday and a 20 percent chance of rain on Thursday and a 10 percent on Friday. Lows will be in the mid to upper 60s through the weekend.

Tucked away on seven acres, under massive live oak trees on the grounds of a new venue described as the area's newest “Honkytonk,” as many as 20 “pickers” at a time gather on Sundays in Round Mountain.

The “pickers” are guitar players, entertainers and musicians – some local, some from Austin and San Antonio and everywhere in between.

A 17-month-old child from Meadowlakes and a Dripping Springs man died Sept. 1 in a two-vehicle collision on US 281, according to the Department of Public Safety report.

The crash happened at 5:20 p.m. that evening within the city limits of Round Mountain.

The report stated that a 2017 Honda CRV (unit 1) – driven by Stephen Neill, 76, of Dripping Springs – was southbound in the left lane.

A Round Mountain man, facing a parole violation, led authorities on a vehicle and foot pursuit around Burnet County, until his temporary getaway was halted the following day by an armed property owner responding to a phone alert about the fugitive.

Briley Sralla is setting her sights on success after becoming the youngest female shooter to qualify for the 2019 National Junior Olympic Shooting Championships earlier this month.

At just 11 years old, Briley of Round Mountain, was selected to participate in the NJOSC in Colorado Springs after her performance at the qualifying event in Fort Worth. Invitations were sent to 607 athletes representing 48 states.

Briley has been using firearms for as long as she can remember, although he just recently started competition.

“When she was five, she asked Santa for a pink .22,” Krissy Sralla, Briley's mother, said. “We knew then she was going to be a shooter.”
