Child sexual assault added to Cude's charges

Charges have been expanded to include sexual abuse of a child and burglary against a man arrested in a tense confrontation in Burnet Tuesday, March 28.

In summary, the charges against 55-year-old Danell “Danny” Cude are now aggrivated kidnapping aggrivated sexaul assault and assault of a child and burglary of a hapitation, all state jail felonies and possession of two ounces or less of marijuana.

Burnet police first arrested Cude for sexually assaulting a woman at her apartment while her two small children were inside the home. According to Burnet Police Chief Paul Nelson, Cude allegedly made entry into an apartment in the 800 block of Dixie Drive, where the female victim was alone with her children.

Jury returns sexual assault conviction, DA praises victims' recovery

Jesus Jose “Joey” Lacer was convicted Jan. 11.

Blaming the victim and methamphetamine addiction did not sway a Burnet County jury that returned a guilty verdict in the trial of Jesus Jose “Joey” Lacer on Jan. 11 in the court of 33rd District Judge Allan Garrett.

It was a case that District Attorney Sonny McAfee held up as a triumph in the recovery of the victim.

Lacer was convicted of Assault Family Violence by Impeding Breath (choking) and Sexual Assault and assessed a 10-years prison sentence for the choking case, the maximum prison term, and 12 years for the sexual assault. The maximum potential sentence for sexual assault is 20 years.
