Saturday night, June 11, is “Cancer Awareness Night” at the Burnet County Rodeo. Gates open at 5:30 p.m. and Burnet County Fair and Rodeo Association asks, 'Are you tough enough to wear pink?'

It’s Burnet County Rodeo and Fair time, ya’ll, and sunny skies are in the forecast for the Burnet County Fair and Rodeo Thursday-Saturday, June 9-11.
This year marks the 50th anniversary of the Burnet County Fair and Rodeo and this year organizers have made some special plans to celebrate in Texas style.  More than 50 vendors will have jewelry, homemade soaps, birdhouses, walking sticks, metal art, wood art, candles and healthy homemade snacks available to fair goers. 
Whether it is vegetables, crafts and metalwork’s that catches the spectators attention or the adrenaline rush of watching bucking bulls and saddle bronc riding, there is “something for everyone” this weekend.
The fair kicks off Thursday night, June 9, with the first-ever crowning of the Burnet County Fair Queen at 7 p.m. at the Hill Country Foundation Building, 403 East Jackson Street, Burnet.
The Fair opens at 10 a.m. on Friday morning, June 10, at the Burnet County Community Center, 401 East Jackson Street.
Demonstrations, photographs, 4H Style Show, barbecue and a gun fight all will be in store for anyone wishing to attend the fair.

One feature of the Burnet County Fair will be a health education program at 1 p.m. Friday, June 10.

An Ounce of Prevention” will be presented Dr. Rachel Myers and nurse practitioner Lane Luna from the Scott & White Clinic- Burnet. The review of health screenings and vaccinations will be open to the public at the at the Hill Country  Foundation Building. Topics will include health screenings and vaccines. There is no cost for this event. For more information, you may call 830-201-7306.

The fair closing at 7 p.m. Friday gives way to the opening night of the Burnet County Rodeo.
Grab those cowboy boots, as gates are set to open at 5:30 p.m. at the Burnet County Fair Grounds, 1301 Houston Clinton Drive, Burnet, with the first bronc bucking at 7 p.m.
Tickets are on sale at the gate for $10 for adults, $5 for ages 6-10, free for kids under 6. Don’t forget to wear red, white and blue for "Patriotic Night," Friday.
Saturday, June 11, brings another round of fair and rodeo events, with the fair opening at 9 a.m., this time only open until 4 p.m. Saturday will not be short of fun at the fair with 50s and 60s rock and roll, car show, and silent auction all set for the Saturday schedule.

In addition to the bulls, broncs and roping Miss Burnet County Rodeo will be crowned Saturday night.
If that wasn’t enough for one weekend the Rodeo has a special treat as they have the “Man in the Can” Ronald Burton as the Rodeo Clown this year.
Burton, who just recently has a documentary released about the life of a rodeo clown, has made Texas history. They aren’t stopping there, a dance will follow at the same location with Kenny Orts, who’s been playing Texas music and country music since 1983.
Both nights feature live music after the rodeo and other performances include Texas Crossing and No Chance.
