DAR offers workshop
The Llano Uplift Chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR) will hold a free genealogy/membership workshop on Saturday, Aug. 6.
The workshop will have two sessions: the first, from 10 a.m.-noon, and a second, from 2-4 p.m. at the Kingsland Public Library located at 125 Polk Street in Kingsland.
NSDAR is a lineage society open to all women over the age of 18 who can
prove lineage back to a “Patriot of the American Revolution of 1776.” The Llano Uplift Chapter includes members from Burnet, Llano, Lampasas, Blanco counties and beyond. The purpose of the genealogy/membership workshop is to assist women in determining eligibility for DAR membership in the Llano Uplift Chapter/NSDAR.
All participants should pre-register and bring copies of any pertinent documents such as birth and death certificates, if available. Participants also should bring a flash drive to download copies of important documents located. DAR members trained in lineage research will be available to help participants do online research and to explain the purpose and membership process of DAR.
Pre-register with Georgi Brochstein, 830-798-9685 or gbrochstein@gmail.com, or Raye Lokey 830-613-1577 or rayelokey@msn.com.
The Llano Uplift Chapter welcomed three new members at a meeting July 23 in Marble Falls. They are Brooke Sutter, D.J. Yows, Shawna Tisdale. All three were recently approved by NSDAR.
Although members in the Llano Uplift chapter come primarily from Burnet and Llano County, others are drawn from the entire Texas Hill Country. Membership is now at 165 and the chapter meets on a quarterly basis.
