Give blood Tuesday

The students at Falls Career High School have scheduled their community service blood drive a little earlier this fall to meet the need for blood following the Labor Day Weekend.

Donate Tuesday, Sept. 6, from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m., at the Bloodmobile across the street from the Marble Falls Independent School District (MFISD) Central Offices, 1800 Pony Drive, one block west of Super Taco.
"The Falls Blood Drive is one of the more exciting community events for our students,” said Mike Saenz, Falls English teacher. “Falls students improve local lives in many ways throughout the year with their service projects, but the blood drive takes it up a notch. Knowing that lives can literally be saved, and saved so easily, galvanizes Falls students to both roll up their sleeves, and aggressively get the word out to our community."
If you are healthy, weigh at least 115 lbs., and are at least 17 years old, you can donate blood! Simply bring your ID, eat a full meal before donating, and you’re ready to donate. You can make an appointment at msaenz@mfisd.txed.dnet, or just drop by the Bloodmobile. You’ll save a life and walk away in about 30 minutes with a free t-shirt and munchies.
According to the Blood Center of Central Texas, one blood donation can save many lives. Donations are used to replace red blood cells, provide frozen plasma, platelets concentrates, cryoprecipitates, and plasma.
"One of the overlooked aspects of our blood drives is the effect our community has on our students,” said Falls Principal Peggy Little. “Each year, we have more donors than students enrolled. Our students repeatedly see what a community can do for a good cause."
