Golfers have until 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 10, to register for the Lake Buchanan Conservation Corporation (LBCC) Golf Tournament at the Lighthouse Country Club in Kingsland.

The shotgun start will be at noon for the best ball scramble for four-person teams, but an individual can team up at the tourney even on Saturday arrival.

The hole-in-one prizes include a Hawaiian vacation for two, a Kindle Fire, a set of Cobra and Nike VRS 2.0 Colvert irons and a $500 gift card. Gross and net cash prizes are guaranteed for first, second and third-place teams. Individual prizes are offered for longest drive, closest to the pin, putting and the big hole-in-one.

The $80 per player fee includes the 18-holes of golf, cart fee, practice range and a ticket to the dinner for prizes and awards. Additional tickets to the dinner are $10.

The club is located at 118 Club Circle off Skyline Drive in Kingsland. For more information, call the club at 325-388-6660.

The non-profit LBCC was established in 2006 to improve and maintain Lake Buchanan as a recreational area and members have worked with area chambers of commerce, the Lower Colorado River Authority and Texas Parks & Wildlife to achieve their goals.

The LBCC has stocked more than seven million Hybrid Striper fry(baby fish) and 545,000 fingerlings at an expense of $135,125, cut and hauled cedar for 23 brush piles to enhance black bass and crappie habitat marked with GPS coordinates by Texas Parks and, with Burnet and Llano Counties, extended and built boat ramps for recreational and emergency access to the lake.

Monthly public meetings create a forum for informational speakers on a wide variety of topics that concern the lake and surrounding area and activities support lake activities for veterans and children.
