Saddle up and rodeo tonight and Saturday and don't miss the morning Main Street Parade

The 61st Annual Marble Falls Rodeo will be going on tonight, Friday, July 14, and tomorrow, July 15, culminating with a performance by Nashville recording artist Genevieve Allen.

Historic Main Street in Marble Falls will be scene of the 10 a.m. Rodeo Parade Saturday.

Entries of all kinds, especially mounted entries, are encouraged; however, walkers are discouraged due to the July heat. Families are especially welcome to take part.
Floats on trailers, decorated cars and trucks, golf carts and all-terrain vehicles are all welcome. Even cyclists can take part. Rodeo and festival queens always make an appearance, either on horseback or by fancy float or convertible.
Red, white and blue is a traditional theme, but one parade award, Most Unique, recognizes novelty.
In addition to Best Dressed Cowboy and Cowgirl and the best in same junior divisions, there are ribbons for Best Float, Best Hometown and Out-of-Town entries and Best Commercial and Best Non-Commercial entries.
The parade will queue up in Johnson Park, making a show on Main Street on its way to Sixth and back to the park.
Some lucky spectators may also find themselves with tickets to see the Saturday night rodeo as the Marble Falls Rodeo Association randomly will be giving out a limited number of tickets.

Ginger Duke and the Dynamite Dames trick riders will entertain crowds again this year during two hours of thrills with professional rodeo competition each night.

The gates open each night at 6:30 p.m., and rodeo action starts at 8 p.m.

Friday admission is $10 for adults, $5 for youth age six-12, and free for kids younger than six. Saturday night admission is $15 for adults, $5 for youth age six-12, and free for kids younger than six.

Saturday night admission includes entry to the dance that goes on past midnight some years.

Allen's music rings true Old West, with the traditional sounds of steel guitar and fiddle. She modernizes her sound with gritty rock vibes, but writes about the way of life that she knows: the rodeo world and wide open spaces.

Early last year Allen cut her first three singles in Nashville’s legendary Hillbilly Central studio, produced by fellow Texan, Adam Fears. Her first single, "Rob That Train," co-written with Fears, was a summer release to Texas Country Radio and quickly climbed to the Top 40. A music video is in production for her song, “That’s Why God Made Cowgirls.”

Livestock for the rodeo events will be provided by Johnny Hoyle and the Cadillac Rodeo Company out of Mexia.

Charley Taylor Rodeo Arena is located south of Marble Falls on a road named Creek 424 at 3053 US 281. Concessions will be available with hamburgers, hot dogs, chips and soft drinks and rodeo fans can bring their own ice chests for other refreshments.

A dance will be held Saturday night with live music by Adam Fears, a returning favorite from last year's rodeo. The dance will begin directly after the rodeo and last until about 1 a.m. Admission to the rodeo includes the dance afterwards.

The rodeo will include entertainment by famous rodeo clown Leon Coffey and trick riders Ginger Duke and the Dynamite Dames.

Dyer said even if you've seen the dames before, “they always do a different act.”

Admission and concessions

Admission for adults is $10 Friday night, $15 on Saturday night, and both nights children six to 12 are $5. Children under six may attend for free.

Concessions will be available with hamburgers, hot dogs, soft drinks, chips and more. Rodeo fans can bring their own ice chests for any other refreshments.
