This year, Veterans Day, a national holiday celebrated each Nov. 11, falls on a Saturday.

To honor local veterans while students are in school, Marble Falls ISD campuses have scheduled special Veterans Day celebrations this Friday, Nov. 10

The Veterans Day celebrations help deepen students’ civic understanding that Veterans Day is the day set aside to thank and honor all those who served honorably in the United States Military — both in wartime or peacetime.

Veterans Day is largely intended to thank living veterans for their service, to acknowledge that their contributions to our national security are appreciated, and to underscore the fact that all those who served—not only those who died — have sacrificed and done their duty.

MFISD Veterans Day Celebrations

  • Colt Elementary will have the White Table set up and students will bring in a Paper Brick to honor their favorite veteran. The Colt PTO will create a Veterans’ Wall of Honor at the campus.

  • Highland Lakes Elementary is holding a special presentation for Veterans during their morning Round-Up Nov. 10. HLE Teachers are also honoring Veterans through activities in each grade level classroom.

  • Marble Falls Elementary is holding its Annual Veterans Day program at 9 a.m. The program includes veteran guests, student poems, songs, performances from the MFMS Jazz Band, and a cheer from the Spirit Squad. MFE is also posting a Veterans’ Brick Wall of Honor.

  • Spicewood Elementary is honoring Veterans with a morning meeting presentation and breakfast. The SWE students are posting a wall of honor at the campus.

  • Marble Falls Middle School is celebrating with a Red, White and Blue Day. The campus is encouraging students to wear red on Friday in honor of our currently deployed Armed Services members.

  • Falls Career High School will celebrate with a U.S. Marine Corps cake since the USMC Birthday is on the same day as Veterans Day. FCHS will also celebrate with two Army veterans with the history of the Army, Monday, Nov. 13.

  • Marble Falls High School will honor our Veterans Friday at 8:10 a.m. with a special tribute at the flagpole in front of MFHS. The MFHS Band and Choir will perform.
