Two juveniles are in custody charged with terroristic threat in connection with an incident at Marble Falls High School (MFHS) today, Feb. 16, that illustrates the ready response of local schools and law inforcement.

The matter was handled so quickly and quietly that most staff and students were unaware it had happened. And, in a letter to parents issued later in the day, MFHS Principal Damon S. Adams said, "We are confident that there is no threat to our students or our school."

Shortly after 9 a.m., a report about the issue was made to Marble Falls Police Department (MFPD) Officer Tim McIntyre, the school resource officer. The school administration was notified and MFPD detectives responded to assist in the investigation that revealed a second student was involved.

"It was determined that two students made non-specific, verbal threats ... as part of a conversation in class," said Adams. "During the investigation, the students were searched, and one student was found in possession of a pocketknife.

"At no time during the day were normal operations of the school interrupted. The actions of law enforcement and campus administration led to a successful resolution to this matter, and we are confident that there is no threat to our students or our school."

"Marble Falls ISD considers student safety to be paramount and at no time will consider threats as a joke," Adams continued. "There are very serious consequences associated with threatening a school and/or students and this would be a good time to remind our students of such."

While schools appreciates receiving information verbally, the district also offers anonymous reporting mechanisms through the Marble Falls ISD app, and their web- based “Stay Alert” and “MFISD Tip Line” at the website at https://www.marblefallsisd.org/ or you may call/text to 1-206-406-6485.
